Studio log, week 7: Handl plans with a free trial, and a new front door

12 changes shipped across 1 codebase last week. All of it Handl, and most of it about one thing... getting ready for people who've never heard of us to sign up.

We also grew the team. A social media person and a digital product manager joined the studio. More on that soon.

Handl: plans, a trial, and a new front door

Plans and a free trial. Handl's Solo, Team and Agency plans now come with a 7-day free trial, and every new agency starts on it. Pricing is here.

When a trial ends without a plan, the day-to-day screens pause until you pick one. Billing and settings stay open, and your invoices stay readable. You can always see what you've sent and what you're owed.

A new sign-up and login. Both pages got redesigned. Form on the left, and on the right a panel showing what Handl actually looks like inside, with a few sample project and stats cards. It's the first screen a new agency sees, so it should look like the product they're signing up for.

Simpler Jira syncing. Last week Jira started updating Handl in real time. This week that moved to a single webhook per Jira connection, which keeps the setup simpler when you link more projects.

→ See how it works: cash flow · integrations → Free: invoice aging and chase tracker → Start a Handl trial

One thing I learned

A trial can end. Access to your own money shouldn't.

The easy way to build a paywall is a wall. Trial's over, everything locks, pay up. But the thing an agency keeps in Handl is a record of who owes them what. Locking that away to force a decision would feel like a hostage situation.

So the invoices stay readable, and billing stays open. You can see where you stand and decide in your own time.

See you next week.
