7 changes shipped across 2 codebases last week. After a February that was all about Handl's relaunch, this one was quiet... and that was fine by me.
The most useful thing for a customer this week actually went to a client.
Client work: alert banners for Columbus REALTORS®
Associations need a way to say "heads up" on the website without redesigning a page. The office is closed for a holiday. An event's moved. A deadline is this Friday.
So we built alert banners into the Columbus REALTORS® CMS. The association team writes a short message (160 characters max, so it stays a banner and not an essay), picks when it starts and when it stops, and chooses where it shows... the homepage, the events page, or both. There's a members-only option too, and a switch to hide it without deleting it.
The start and end times are the bit I like. Set it up on Monday for a closure next week, and it appears and disappears on its own. Nobody has to remember to take it down.
It was built and tested this week and heads to the live site shortly.
If you need something like this built for your industry, this is what we do.
Handl: tidying up after the relaunch
A small week for Handl. The sidebar navigation picked up our brand font, and the tabs on a project page now look and behave the way they do in our designs.
Not headline stuff. But after a month of shipping big features fast, it's the right time to make sure the screens you use every day feel like one product.

See you next week.
